Newsletter – 1 February 2023

Hello everyone,

As you will see from the list of events there is a lot going on in the short month of February.  Everything is listed below but do look out for the concerts in Holy Trinity, the plays and shows in the Market House – as well as the big reveal of what has been found under the Undercroft.  The snowdrops at Hyde in aid of Horsfall House must also not be missed.

MinchLife had been planning a street party on Saturday, 6th May in the High Street to celebrate the King’s Coronation.  The bands had been booked but the Palace have now asked that the country celebrate with community lunches on Sunday, 7th May.  Mark the date as we are now rearranging all the plans.  We are closing the High Street and would encourage as many people as possible to come along with their own tables, chairs and food and enjoy the live music and fun.  More details to follow.

We are also working on the Fayre on 9th September.  We would welcome anyone interested in running a stall, be it merchandise or food to contact us at info@minchlife.com .   We also hope to bring the whole community together and again would appreciate support from the local clubs and groups.

Warm Spaces and Pop-up Pantry
The Minchinhampton Warmspaces team have pulled together a list of cosy places where you can sit and have a cup of tea and a chat.  Please click here for more information.  The Pop-up Pantry is open every Tuesday from 10 – 11.30 at Minchinhampton Youth Centre in Tobacconist Road.  If you can’t make it on a Tuesday, limited stocks of pre-packaged bags of store cupboard essentials are now available for collection during the Sunday afternoon sessions in the church and during morning sessions at the Library.  Please send any feedback you might have to minchpantry@outlook.com.  Do tell anyone who could benefit from these great facilities.

The Crown
Mark and Fiona have moved on as managers to Northleach.  The new Interim GM is Grant.  He tells us that from 6th February their kitchen will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays until 3rd March and the restaurant area will be closed from the same dates.  They are  having a few touch ups, as well as moving a few things around.  The kitchen will still be open for the rest of the week, however it will be operating a very selective menu.
The quiz will still be happening on the last Thursday of the month –  maybe with a new name as Kenny has moved away.  Every Wednesday there will be live music organised by JP Corry.

The Ragged Cot
is offering a 30% discount on every meal from Monday to Thursday in February.   Live music every Saturday.

The Kitchen
has been awarded a Five Star Rating in the Food Hygiene rating scheme organised by The Food Standards Agency.

The Long Table, Brimscombe
https://www.thelongtableonline.com  5:00 pm -11:00 pm
From Saturday, 11th February, the Long Table will be open on Saturday nights for dinner, music and events.  As always they will be cooking up a delicious meal, that’s pay-as-you-can and available first come, first served until it runs out!

No 3 The Salon
Sadly this has had to close as it was no longer viable for Michelle Weeks to continue – a lot of work was needed on the building.  She is doing mobile hairdressing visits now and she can be reached on 07500 006769.

Gloucestershire Carers Hub will be at Minchinhampton Community Library on Tuesday, 21st February.  The hub supports unpaid carers who look after someone else.  If you provide support to a partner, relative or friend who is disabled or unwell due to physical or mental health, the hub can offer advice, reassurance, emotional support, contact with other carers, activities and more.
