MinchLife Newsletter – 1 June 2025

Hello everyone,

As always, another busy month ahead in Minchinhampton and surrounds.  Particular highlights are the Horsfall House Walk with the opportunity to see the stunning gardens of Avening Court.  Open gardens in Box on 1st June and Tetbury private gardens on 22nd June in aid of a new x-ray machine. The Flower Guild also has a coffee morning in the beautiful garden owned by the Jutsums and there are concerts by the Stuart Singers, Thames Head Singers and open-air theatre “The Rivals” in Amberley.  All details below.

MinchLife continues to work towards the Fayre on 13th September which will be held on the Great Park this year.  There will be lots of details of the entertainments nearer the time but we are particularly looking for face painters.  Do get in touch if you can do this or know anyone who can.

Reminder of a visit to the National Botanic Garden of Wales on Monday, 16th June with Ian and Katie Jarvis.

Fix my Street App
GCC Highways are anxious to promote the use of the FixMyStreet app to report problems with the highways, e.g. potholes etc.  It really is very efficient as it means that problems immediately get assessed and then dealt with in due course, depending on urgency.  More information here

Public loos in Bell Lane
Martin Dence, a long-standing resident of Minchinhampton, has been campaigning to improve the loos for some time.  He felt strongly that they needed seats and to be tidied up generally.  He has approached many people in the pursuit of his aim and at last this has been done.  Thank you!

News from the Minchinhampton School Veggie Patch Project
Exciting Developments:  We are thrilled to announce that the raised beds for our Veggie Patch Project have been successfully built!   A huge thank you goes out to Matt and Jim, who generously dedicated their weekend to constructing them. Their hard work has laid the foundation for an amazing vegetable garden.
Fun in the Pre-Veg Patch:  Even before our vegetable patch is fully operational, it’s already bringing joy to the children. They’ve been having a blast building dens with the cardboard, climbing the hill of topsoil, and playing on the mound of wood chippings.  It’s wonderful to see the space being used creatively and joyfully.
Call for a Compost Trailer:  We are in need of a trailer to help transport compost from the Long Table.  If you have a trailer that we could borrow, please get in touch – contact  Nicola.wood@minchpta.com.   Your help would be greatly appreciated and instrumental to our project’s success.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support, your donations and enthusiasm. Together, we are making wonderful progress!
