Minchinhampton Life puts up lights in Minchinhampton High Street

For the second year running, local residents group, Minchinhampton Life, has taken responsibility for ensuring that Minchinhampton’s High Street and Market Square are suitably illuminated for the festive season.

Richard Leech, Andrew Lane and Nigel Parry spent two days placing Christmas trees, decorated with twinkling lights, in holders attached to the fronts of commercial premises – including The Crown Inn, recently purchased by the Lucky Onion Group.

They also lit up a festive tree in the churchyard overlooking the Market Square that provides a focal point for the town.  The illuminations went live on Saturday evening and will remain in place until Twelfth Night.  Thanks are due to Tim Mowat from the Owl House who very kindly provides the electricity for the tree in the Churchyard. It is much appreciated.

Local traders, keen to support the group’s initiative, were happy to pay for the trees outside their shops, as were two private residents;  the lights were donated by Nick’s Timber of Gloucester.

Minchinhampton Life would like to thank Nick Hurst and the Parish Council for their generous  donation of £50 towards the cost of the lights and two brackets.

Minchinhampton Market House has also put a beautiful tree in the Undercroft – carols will be sung there at mid-day on Christmas Eve.
