Minchinhampton Market House – Undercroft Appeal Update as at 30th July 2021.
Can you help us complete the funding for this Appeal?
Over 100 of you have given to the appeal for refurbishments to guttering, coving and the roof during 2020, and to this appeal during last winter and so far this year.If you can repeat your gift the project will be completed and funds provided for future refurbishment. If this would be your first gift, welcome aboard.
If you can give £25, £50 or £100 now, then this project will be completed this year. We are nearly there. Over £70,000 given so far.
Another £15,000 is what we hope for – less than £50 per head of all those who voted strongly in favour of the improvements to the floor, ironworks, access and power provision in our consultation late last year.
To remind you of the aims of this appeal:
We wish to lift the 17th century stone of the ground floor undercroft of the Market House, level the surface, replace unusable pavers with appropriate pavers of the same stone, and re-lay the floor complete with channelling to permit the provision of 21st century services for the future. Then we will improve access between the Market Square, the undercroft and the Hall by refurbishing/rearranging the ironwork.
This work will make the undercroft an attractive safe space in which to hold our weekly country market and other community events, especially for the youngest and older members of our community.
Is this a project you may be prepared to consider for support?
If so, please contact Tim Mowat, trustee, at timmowat@gmail.com, or telephone 01453-883369, or (mobile) 07909464066.
