Newsletter – 1 January 2023

Hello everyone and a Happy New Year!

Many people did a great deal to make the town look attractive for the Christmas festivities and to keep us all safe by clearing snow and ice – thank you to everyone involved.

Tracey Clements organised the Advent windows around Minchinhampton.  Take a stroll and see how many you can find – they will be up until Twelfth Night.  Hopefully this will become an annual event and we hope to produce a printed copy of the trail another year.

Minch Book club began in June this year and meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7pm. They meet at The Crown (if The Crown is closed they will meet at The Old Lodge).  The club is a friendly bunch and welcome newcomers. There is never an expectation that you need to attend every meeting or read every book,  For some, joining the Facebook group is enough.  Book for January is Still Life by Sarah Winman.   Contact Rachel Montgomery at rachel@monty.one  or 07715 303707.

Ring for the King!
The bellringers at Holy Trinity Church, Minchinhampton are looking for new recruits who could be trained and ready to ring for the coronation in May.  Would you like to come and see what is involved, or do you know someone younger (usually aged 10+ but height strength and attitude are more relevant than age) whom you could bring?  Practises are on Friday evenings in the ringing chamber of the church – 44 steps up the tower – and also ring for the service on Sunday morning (as well as weddings and the occasional other special event).  Full 1-1 tuition is given.  It is a challenging but very rewarding hobby/art that can be carried on well into old age (80+!).  No requirement for church membership or attendance, just an enthusiasm to become a regular team member.
If you would like to find out more, please contact Angie (01453 884203/ akayling@hotmail.com) or Tony (07557 108211/ tony@tonynatt.com) or come along on a Friday evening. Best to ring or email first, just to check that we are indeed having a practice.
