Town Centre Survey

The Parish Council is launching a study to look at ways Minchinhampton Town Centre could be improved.

To ensure that this process addresses the key issues facing the local community, the Parish Council needs to understand your concerns and where your priorities lie as residents and/or business owners of the Parish. The QR code on the attached poster will take you to the questionnaire. Alternatively, you can follow this link to access it: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/minchinhampton

At this stage these are only thoughts and ideas under consideration, based upon potential changes to the town’s infrastructure. Whilst the ideas may or may not be possible – it is important to get everyone’s feedback so that we understand the priorities for the town. Please note that third party agencies are involved and their cooperation cannot be assumed.

The Parish Council would be grateful if you could indicate your feelings on each initiative by ranking the options in each category according to how important you think they are for the town. They also ask that you take this opportunity to tell them about any other specific related comments and suggestions you may have under ‘Any Other Comments’. You do not need to provide any personal information, nevertheless, the information you provide will be treated confidentially, and will only be used for the stated purpose and only kept for as long as the information remains relevant. Please submit your questionnaire by 29th September 2024 (one per person)

There will be some paper copies of the questionnaire circulated in the next few weeks and will be available from various locations around the town.

The Parish Council thanks you in advance for your consideration and feedback

  1. I feel that the most important issue is that of speed of traffic, particularly in West End and Tetbury Street . How it can be that Box and Nailsworth, to name just two ,have had 20mph restrictions for many years while our narrow streets and insubstantial pavements do not is a cause for concern.
    So,
    (a) 20mph Restriction throughout the town.
    (b) Some method of preventing vehicles mounting and driving along the pavements ( possibly strategically placed bollards) particularly West End.
    (c) Some attempt at discouraging through traffic in West End and Tetbury Street to and from Avening direction.

    Apart from those main points,
I feel that the feedback questionnaire form has a major flaw in it.
One is being asked to choose to put in order of preference ideas that in some cases one has positively negative views.
There needs to be a category to express this otherwise 6th place could be construed as vaguely acceptable.
