Welcome to our 2020 Charity Walk. THIS WILL BE A SOCIALLY DISTANCED EVENT and a walk of approximately 10 miles (or 3-4 miles if you can be collected from Avening) around Minchinhampton, Gatcombe and Avening. As usual, the walk includes Gatcombe Wood and the gardens of Avening Court by kind permission of their owners. The route is unsuitable for pushchairs or toddlers but dogs on leads are welcome and we recommend that you wear walking shoes or boots. All walkers are required to check-in at Minchinhampton Library between 9.30am and 1.00pm and we will still be there to welcome you back until 5.00pm. Unfortunately, because of Covid Security, Avening Social Club is closed and there will be no minibus transport on this occasion. Our Charity Walk for Free Respite Care is through areas of Gatcombe Wood and Avening Court not normally available to the general public. The full walk is a 10 mile circular route. The shorter walk is a 3-4 mile route. Entry to this event is by voluntary donation and the suggested minimum donations are: Individual £12, Family, 2 adults 3 children £30, Children 16 and under £6, Dogs Free. I loved the Horsefall walk, although I only did two thirds! As I am new to the village I didn’t know anyone to walk with ….just Billl the dog. Next year is it possible for join singletons up. The Volunteers were great and the speckled cool light and shade in the woods on the hot day was much appreciated.
