50th Anniversary celebrations of Minchinhampton Tennis Club

On Sunday 15th September Minchinhampton tennis club celebrated its 50th anniversary with the official opening of newly re-surfaced clay courts and a sunny day of enjoyable tennis. A ‘wooden rackets & tennis whites’ tournament was followed by an exhibition match between Zach Webb, runner up in the County championships, and club coach James Aburrow. Club finals followed, with Becky Putnam winning the ladies’ singles, Jason Smart the men’s singles, Sam Davis-Berry and Peter Gardiner the men’s doubles, Alison Winkfield and Becky Putnam the ladies’ doubles, and Roger Lindley and Becky Putnam the mixed doubles. Founder member Anna Macbean provided a wonderful history of the club’s formation in 1969, and a delicious anniversary cake and bubbly rounded off the day.  Minchinampton Tennis Club always welcomes new members; if you are interested in joining, please contact membership secretary Cris Fagarasan on 07970 006596, email: 46cris@gmail.com
