Biographical Info
The Cotteswold Naturalists’ Field Club is arguably the oldest club of its kind in England. It was formed in 1846 to promote interest in the natural history, environment, antiquities and culture of the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire and elsewhere. However, we like to think that little has changed in the intervening years in relation to the Club’s interests and sense of fellowship, other than to add that membership is open to all.
Our activities include lectures, excursions, walks and social.
We meet on a Tuesday afternoon, monthly, at Box Village Hall. For details of talks see website/Minchinhampton Life events diary.
Our annual journal ‘The Proceedings’ contains reports of our activities and articles on the Club’s interests, printed newsletters 3 – 4 times a year to members and pocket-sized programme cards. We also send regular updates to members who provide email addresses. You will be most welcome to join in our activities whatever your level of interest. You do not normally need to be a Member first before you come to one of our events. Please feel free to contact us for details and then come along and see what we have to offer: Please contact Mrs Jane Rowe, The Churn, Hale Lane, Painswick, Stroud, GL6 6QF (01452 813228).
Membership runs from 1st January to 31st December each year and for those joining after 1st August membership will run to 31st December of the following year. Membership currently costs £20 per year, or £30 for two or more living at the same address.
