As part of the afternoon’s display\, there will be free showings of films of local interest. 3 films will be shown\, details below. The showings will be at 3pm\, 4pm and 5pm. \n1. Anzacs over England. (31 mins)This is a documentary about the Australian Flying Corps in Minchinhampton and Leighterton during WW1 using archive film from 1918. (15.00) \n2. The Falconer Film Collection. (40 mins) This is a compilation of 16mm silent films shot here and abroad in the 50s and 60s by local architect Peter Falconer\, who among many other things designed Box Church and the Minchinhampton Porch  Room. Mary Falconer (Peter’s wife) and her daughter provide the commentary.(16.00) \n3. 2020 Hindsight.(56 mins) A documentary shot entirely in Minchinhampton near the end of the Covid crisis\, showing how various individuals\, businesses and organisations dealt with the situation. And absolutely fell in love. Even before you get to the Georgian dolls’ house frontage\, you have its glorious positioning in Salisbury Cathedral Close. Once inside – what a treat. The collections range from the very personal (the chair he used to sit in to watch TV\, while eating dinner from a tray) to photographs and gifts that document his time as Prime Minister and MP. Utterly fascinating and beautiful (especially the paintings\, which include work by Churchill\, Wyllie\, Lowry\, Singer Sargent\, Nash\, Piper\, Sickert\, and both Augustus and Gwen John. One of the guides we spoke to had worked for Sir Edward\, and offered such heart-warming insight. Plus\, there are all sorts of other details\, from his yachting career and love of music\, to practical details of how the security guards managed to secure his home. The tickets are free-flow\, meaning you can go at your own pace and time.\nWe’ll also have time to visit Salisbury Cathedral (under your own steam)\, and the city itself which is a super shopping/eating centre.
