DESCRIPTION:Coach £16\, Entrance £10 (inc Coffee & Cake)\n– Total £26 per person\n\nKatie and I went to Highnam Court Gardens for the first time a few weeks ago – and were\nabsolutely bowled over. They are stunning. As a result\, we’ve booked them for the morning –\nthey’re not open to the public very often outside the National Gardens Scheme – along with\ncoffee and cake for us all in the Orangerie. You can see more extensive photos at\nhttps://www.highnamcourt.co.uk/\nBut\, in short\, this wonderful 40-acre Victorian garden was originally set out by the artist\nThomas Gambier Parry. His vision included ornamental lakes\, shrubberies\, Pulhamite water\ngardens (now listed) with grottos and fernery\, and woodland. Not only was he an\naccomplished painter – responsible for the magnificent frescos in Highnam Church – he was\nalso a musician and art collector. Not surprising\, then\, that – by 1874 – he had created a\ngarden that rivalled any other in the country.\nAs the 20th century dawned\, however\, the gardens began to fall into neglect. By 1994\, when\nthe rescue mission began\, they were totally overgrown.\nFor the past 25 years\, owner Roger Head has been lovingly restoring the gardens to their\nformer glory\, with many new additions. Stage six’s route will head into the Cotswolds before approaching the finish by the historic Gloucester Docks via South Gloucestershire. \nGloucestershire County Council’s commitment to supporting tourism and active travel will see the Women’s Tour\, the UK’s most prestigious women’s cycle race\, also visit the county in 2022 for a Tewkesbury to Gloucester stage (Wednesday 8 June\, albeit using a different route. \nMore details of stage six will be announced in Summer 2022.

DESCRIPTION:NOW PLANNED FOR 9 DECEMBER AT 6.00-9.00PM \n  \nWe are looking for daredevils to face their fears\, and take on a Fire Walk  in our lovely hospice grounds. \nWhether it’s already on your bucket list or something you’ve never considered doing before\, fire-walking is an exhilarating way to challenge yourself to do something different. \nFearless fundraisers are offered the ultimate challenge of walking 15ft over hot coals at 550 degrees celsius! It may sound tough but it’s perfectly safe. \nIf you can walk on fire\, you can do anything! \nWhat happens on the day?\nAs a Fire Walker\, you will receive full training an hour before the Fire Walk. During this time you will be motivated and build the confidence to complete the challenge. Then it will be time for you to take up the challenge. \nThe Fire Walk and the training session is organised and conducted by UK Fire Walk\, one of the UK’s leading Fire Walk companies.
