SUMMARY:Minchinhampton Walking and Wildlife Group Box - Meadow Clary
DESCRIPTION: This walk to Box to see Meadow Clary.  Led by Hemmings and Hanks.    \nThe itinerary for Sunday’s MWWG walk on 29th May is that at 10.30 we park and meet on either of the two adjacent car parking areas on the common between the Halfway House\, Box\, and Hampton Green (Common Road). These are usually fairly empty on Sundays. \n  \nFrom there we will walk towards “The Triangle” and down “The Snicket” to Box\, then through the village to Stuart Fawkes Fields. I’m very pleased and relieved to say that we have several appearances of Meadow Clary in all of the three fields\, though one clump is currently missing\, so please being your strongest reading glasses to help spot any Meadow Clary that Sarah and I have failed to identify. I find it very difficult to identify until it is in flower\, as the foliage looks like so many others. If the weather remains dry we can then walk through Box Wood and back to the village. \n  \nUnfortunately Box Village Hall’s marquee is not available to us next Sunday for a “bring and share” lunch\, as there is a wedding party taking place that day\, but Chez Baycroft has a large picnic table and umbrella\, so please bring a sandwich or three and whatever else you wish to eat so that we can have a “bring and share” lunch in our garden. Beer\, wine and soft drinks will be available. You can drop your food off at our house at Baycroft so that you don’t have to take it round with you on the walk. \n  \nWe are an informal group of friends who enjoy walking\, wildlife\, good company and the occasional trip the pub. You are very welcome to join us – but entirely at your own risk!! \nAll walks use public footpaths which may be steep\, rough and slippery. Prepare accordingly. \nWe generally start at 10.30\, unless otherwise specified in the programme. \nIf the weather is very poor\, we will cancel by email by 9.00am on the relevant morning. \nPlease contact karencolebourn@gmail.com to be added to the circulation list.
