DESCRIPTION:The monthly Alzheimer Café which\, for over 20 years has been held in Nailsworth\, has now moved to the Longfield Community Hospice on Burleigh Lane\, Minchinhampton.  The hospice building is fully accessible and there is ample parking on site. \nThe café offers support\, advice\, discussion time and musical entertainment for those living at home and suffering from any form of dementia. Many attend with a friend or family member\, while others are brought by volunteer drivers. Light refreshments are provided and there is ample opportunity to relax and chat in a supportive environment; often\, local medical professionals attend and are able to answer specific questions. \nThere is no charge\, though donations are welcomed\, to help cover expenses. The café is staffed solely by volunteers\, many of whom have first-hand experience of Alzheimer’s through having cared for a family member in the past. \nThere is no need to book or register – just turn up; all are welcome\, as are potential volunteers helpers.
