SUMMARY:Wild Food Foraging Walk & lunch
DESCRIPTION:During the wild food foraging\, which last around three hours\, we will be identifying\, picking\, and eating a number of delicious plants. There will be discussion around seasonal eating\, the nutritional values and medicinal use of plants. We will also look at the conservation of species and their habitats\, what to take and what to leave. And of course\, there’s the identification and storage of wild food\, delicious recipes\, and lots\, lots more. \nThe group meets in the hotel lounge for an introduction over coffee or tea followed by a foraging walk and a two-course lunch back at the hotel prepared by head chef Shaun. \nBring a flask of hot water with you to make your own herbal tea as we forage leaves\, flowers etc when we’re outside. \nMore details and details on how to book:  https://www.burleighcourtcotswolds.co.uk/foraging-courses-at-burleigh-court/

SUMMARY:Coach trip with Ian to Malvern Autumn Show.
DESCRIPTION:Friday 24th September – Malvern Autumn Show \nEntrance £18 & Coach £18 – Total £36 per person \n  \nWe thought this show at the Three Counties Showground sounded just the ticket. If you’re a gardener\, there’s a flower show with plant nurseries (and a place to search out all the plants and seeds on your list). For shoppers\, there’s a countryside pavilion with everything from artwork and jewellery to an independent crafts area\, featuring makers from Hereford\, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. \nFor the eaters (who isn’t!)\, the outdoor food and drink village offers a panoply of local producers. \nPlus\, there will be displays of historic craftsmanship; a vintage village – including vintage shopping; and displays of vintage garden machinery\, classic caravans and vintage tractors. There’s even a wartime pub (all the trappings of the 1940s)\, and a vintage tearoom. \nYou can find out more details at malvernautumn.co.uk \n0915 – 0925h          Begin pickups \n1045h           Destination \n1530h                      Leave for home (ETA ~1630h)

SUMMARY:Walking and Wildlife Group - Box Wood and beyond.
DESCRIPTION:The walk will start at Box Village Hall car park at 10:30am. We recommend stout walking shoes as Box Wood can get a bit damp\, especially after rain. The walk will include some meandering inclines down to Longfords\, Iron Mills and ultimately The Weighbridge\, then back up again via Holcombe Mill\, although you could arrange to leave cars at The Weighbridge to take you back up the hill. So lots of wildlife but we will also be joined by Beris Hanks and Bob Common. Bob is a resident of Iron Mills and will be offering quite a bit of local history too. \nDespite Jacquie’s considerable efforts\, we have been unable to find any venue within range that is able to accommodate the MWWG for lunch this Sunday. I think booking anything weeks in advance has become the new\, post-Covid norm. \n  \nWe have instead booked Box Village Hall\, where there is a marquee in the lovely gardens under which we can arrange tables and chairs for a bring-your-own picnic. Bring suitable clothing as we cannot book warm weather either. \n  \n  \n  \nSphemmings@gmail.com \nWe are an informal group of friends who enjoy walking\, wildlife\, good company and the occasional trip the pub. You are very welcome to join us – but entirely at your own risk!! \nAll walks use public footpaths which may be steep\, rough and slippery. Prepare accordingly. \nWe generally start at 10.30\, unless otherwise specified in the programme. \nIf the weather is very poor\, we will cancel by email by 9.00am on the relevant morning. \nPlease contact karencolebourn@gmail.com to be added to the circulation list. We also have a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/Minchwildwalks \nMeet at Box Village Hall car park). Box Wood and beyond. Led by Hanks and Hemmings

SUMMARY:Foraging Course
DESCRIPTION:Come along to an autumn foraging experience and discover the wonderful world of wild food. A professional forager will help you learn how to safely ID edible species and come away with lots of ideas for turning your foraged bounty into scrumptious meals. \nWhile we be out for three hours exploring and foraging wild food\, we will be identifying\, picking and tasting a number of delicious edibles that we find on the way. There will be discussion about seasonal eating and the nutritional values and medicinal use of plants. We will also look at the conservation of species and their habitats\, what to take and what to leave. And of course there’s use and storage of wild food\, recipes and lots\, lots more. Do bring a flask with hot water so we can make some herbal tea on the way. \nTicket price £65 per person including lunch.\nBooking:  https://www.burleighcourtcotswolds.co.uk/foraging-courses-at-burleigh-court/
