SUMMARY:Coach trip with Ian and Katie Jarvis to the Newt\, Somerset
DESCRIPTION:The Newt\, Somerset:  private garden tour\, group lunch\, cyder tour and tasting. \nCoach £30\, The Newt’s full “Flowering package” £90 – Total £120 per person \nWe last visited the Newt some two years ago\, now — and it was SO good!  It’s not an easy place to get to\, nor to visit\, favouring membership over popping in. But we have a group booking to this luxurious five-star hotel and restaurant\, once a country estate. It has stunning gardens\, and is a favourite of top chef Michel Roux Jr. In fact\, you can still catch the programme he made\, about a visit with Fred Sirieix\, on BBC iPlayer: Remarkable Places toEat – use this link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000qrxy \nWe’ve secured a real treat for you — and we make no apologies for the price: this is a rather special day out. We’ve a private tour booked of the gardens\, which have been shaped over the past 200 years by enthusiasts such as Margaret Hobhouse\, Penelope Hobhouse\, and Nori and Sandra Pole. The latest creator is Italo-French architect Patrice Taravella\, ‘who believes a garden should be both beautiful and useful. Mixing ornamental and productive elements\, the gardens are a feast for the eyes and stomach’. At their core sits the Parabola\, a walled garden concealing an apple-tree maze. What’s more\, The Newt not only makes its own cyder: it celebrates every aspect of this county’s heritage industry: from the sapling to the tree\, the fruit\, its juice and the final stage: cyder. \nWe’ll have a private tour of the cyder-making facilities (and the opportunity for a sip or two).  Lunch — overlooking the kitchen gardens and orchards — is also included at the Garden Café (not including drinks)\, which should be very good indeed. \n0850h Begin pickups \n1100h The Newt\, Somerset \n1530h Leave for home
