DESCRIPTION:Coach £23 and Non NT Entrance £13 – Total £36 per person \nHanbury Hall National Trust property\, Droitwich Spa\nThis William and Mary-style country house in Worcestershire is a bit of a gem\, we’d say. It’s set in a gorgeous 390 acres of parkland – lots of public walks – and has beautiful gardens\, full of colour and scent. When the National Trust took over in 1953\, there was not a trace of its original garden remaining. So the charity set about recreating it\, using designer George London’s original 1705 plans. The result is stunning.\nOne of the most remarkable features of the house is the wall and ceiling painting around the central staircase by Sir James Thornhill\, who went on to paint the dome of St Paul’s Cathedral.\nThe Trust tells us the main café might not be fully open – it’s being rebuilt into a new all-singing one – but the smaller cafe will be open for drinks\, snacks\, cakes\, sausage rolls\, pasties\, etc.\nwww.nationaltrust.org.uk/hanbury-hall \nWe’ve added a stop on the way\, which we thought would be rather natty – an opportunity for a coffee and cake and a quick gander at Webbs of Wychbold (as we’re passing the door). \nIt is the most fabulous garden centre/shop\, with a great café/restaurant.
