SUMMARY:Minchinhamton Folk Club - Guest Dick Brice
DESCRIPTION:We look forward to welcoming Dick Brice as our guest for the evening. Floor spots start at 8.00.DIck has been singing and playing folk music since the sixties in The Farriers\, a well-known traditional folk group based in the Midlands\, and as a solo artist.\nAlthough Dick was originally recognised as an interpreter of traditional song\, he has become better known over the past few years as a writer of material based on his own experience. His songs and poems can be poignant or humorous and frequently manage to be both.\nHe has appeared twice at the City of London Festival and at the Edinburgh Festival\, at the Noyeres Festival in Burgundy and has sung in Germany\, Austria\, Croatia and Portugal as well as in folk clubs\, concerts and festivals in many parts of Britain. His songs have been heard on BBC “Folk Night”\, on national radio in Canada\, Nigeria & Australia as well as on local radio in this country. He has also appeared on television.\nDick and his wife Di live in a house\, which they built themselves\, some four miles from Ross on Wye in Herefordshire where Dick was a primary school Head teacher for twenty-five years before leaving teaching to spend more time writing and performing his songs and poetry and indulging in his other great love of sailing his boat – “Minstrel of Gloucester”
